Weekly Summary and Sunday Thoughts
Curious what a week in the life of a software engineer, CTO, and entrepreneur looks like? Here is a slightly obfuscated .plan for the week and a breakdown of my time tracking.
Folks working a “9 to 5” usually comment on how few hours it seems I’m working. Keep in mind, I only start a timer when I’m specifically on-task. When I’m between tasks, idle, taking a break, etc., I stop the timer. When you look at a typical 8-hour workday, you are not on-task the entire 8 hours (usually, and hopefully not!).
I’ve been averaging approximately 4 hours a day since I’ve started time tracking. It seems to be the sweet spot for me. Another thing to consider is that I work 6.5 days a week, usually just a few hours on Sundays and a pretty full Saturday in addition to the typical Monday through Friday.

I’ll post these weekly reports when I can, hopefully weekly but it takes time to scrub the .plan file so I know I’ll eventually get lazy.
F1 and the Canada GP
We didn’t do so great, slipping a bit in the points in the driver’s championship. I think Lando made a mistake in the execution, but not in the decision to attempt a pass. At the end of the day, that’s racing.
As one of my fave drivers, the legendary Ayrton Senna once said,
“If you no longer go for a gap that exists, you are no longer a racing driver”

I’m just glad he didn’t get hurt and didn’t ruin Oscar’s race. We all knew it would eventually come to this, with both drivers competing for the championship. I hope he can keep his head up and we’ll see how #papayarules evolves after today. Congratulations to GR63 and to Kimi for his first podium. The Mercedes team looked solid all weekend, congratulations!
And to all the fathers out there, in the various shapes and forms of fatherhood, have a most wonderful Father’s Day!
